This bold modern Kiondo in blue and white has been created by a cooperative of women in rural Kenya. A Kiondo is an African handwoven basket typically made from sisal and is indigenous to the Kikuyu and Kamba tribes of Kenya. They weave together traditional sisal with polythene to create this truly amazing piece. The money they make from this work has become an additional sustainable source of income for them and their families.
